In a fantasy world, fighter Tatsumi sets out for the Capitol to earn money for his starving village, and finds a world of unimaginable corruption, all spreading from the depraved Prime Minister who controls the child Emperor's ear. After nearly becoming a victim of this corruption himself, Tatsumi is recruited by Night Raid, a group of assassins dedicated to eliminating the corruption plaguing the Capitol by mercilessly killing those responsible. |

This is an anime with a plot that is superb, animation that is excellent and an overall outstanding use of your time. Be warned though, under the facade of all things wonderful this story takes on a gory, dark turn. I am still a big fan of that, until people start falling like flies, and then your heart wrenches with every passing episode. And even thought it is so good that you can't help but continue, you are left at the end with a hollow chest. So much to take in, you'd need a few days after just getting over all the shocks. Even though, this is one of the best animes out there, and very worth the watch.
Consider it somewhat like the Game of Thrones, of anime.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
