I was honestly looking forward to this show. Because it was made by the same people that did Clannad, Air, and Kanon I thought it was going to be a well done show. I did not see anything that even compared to any of these magnificent KEY creations.

There were way too many characters in this show. There was no time to develop any of their stories well and then its over. I hardly felt any sympathy for the characters in the dramatic scenes except for Otonashi's story of course. Air had me balling even before the end!

The humor was ridiculous. I probably laughed 3-5 times throughout the series. I have watched a lot of bad comedic animes, and this one easily makes that list. It is simply not funny.

I have to commend the concept of Angel Beats. I believe it is quite unique and had a lot of potential. But the anime was poorly executed. The story was just so rushed. If the series lasted for 24 episodes i think it could have done much better. There was just too much to solve in such a little amount of time.

I watch a lot of anime and like to recommend what i watch to my friends. This is not a series i would recommend. I usually watch an episode the moment i see it is subbed. However, this one just didn't pull me in and get me addicted.

If you are looking for a real dramatic series with some good genuine subtle laughs try the other Key animations: Air, Kanon, and Clannad.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
