Summary: Kurosaki Ichigo is a 15 year old boy that has an ability to see ghosts/spirits. Because of his ability, he is able to meet a female death god (a.k.a Shinigami) named Kuchiki Rukia. To save his family and friends from unwanted soul-eating spirits (Hollows), Rukia transfers her Shinigami powers to Ichigo. As Rukia takes on a human shell, together they solve mysteries involving spirits and hollows until from the spirit world comes 2 other shinigamis explaining that it is illegal to transfer Shinigami powers to humans and Rukia exceeded the time limit to stay in the human world. After they sentence her death for breaking the laws, Ichigo snaps and swears to everyone he will retrieve Rukia by breaking into the spirit world.

Bleach. Well...

The story was very interesting at first learning about the Hollows and the Soul Reapers of Soul Society and how things progressed in the early stages of this anime up to about episodes 60-70. I would have scored this anime higher in the passed but after a few years of watching this now, this anime has become quite the drag. The main progressive plot is regularly interupted by lengthly sections of fillers that could swallow other entire animes whole. The main plot eventually begins to drag to such an extent that it begins to threaten the integrity of the characters, established in the first 60-70 eps, and after 280 odd episodes I must admit that the great visuals they once had are starting to fade. Dare I say, its starting to become a cult anime, that people still carry on or start watching these days because of the hype it generated back when it was still good.

If Bleach deserves any real credit then it should go to what it was when in started and nodoubt when it comes on tele I'd be happy to watch any random episode of it on Animax SA (South African Animax, former 24hour anime channel) over anything els on TV (since they only show the first 60 odd episodes anyway). Sadly these days it seems like bleach is just trying to cheaply hold onto an ongoing weekly tele slot by dragging everything out to oblivion.

Meh, thats my two cents.
