Good, but not great.

[For those who read the magna, this does not deal with the manga, it deals with the animation ONLY] I watched Bleach starting from around the 20th episode when it was airing, and have kept watching it until now. When I first started watching Bleach, I was hooked. It was amazing. The fight scenes were wicked sick. The story was pretty good... the animation was awesome, the sound was amazing. It just seemed like I found a proper, long-lasting anime to watch. However... I can now say, that is not the case anymore. I'm trying to avoid spoilers here... so here goes. Bleach is good, that I can definitely say, but when you've watched until the most recent episode, you'll start to slowly not care that much about it anymore. I went from greatly anticipating every episode... to not caring about any except for those which had good fight scenes. It's just that when Bleach is put side by side with Naruto Shippuuden... Shippuuden excels in alot of ways. I know I shouldn't have made that reference, and will probably result in alot of not-helpful reviews, but it's true. I do hand it to the guys behind Bleach in that the fight scenes and animation, including sound are all really well done... but it's just that story lacks. The characters are interesting. Ichigo is the main character and one of the most un-original characters at that. The one who feels the need to "protect" everyone, has been visited time and time over again. Then there's Inoue, the damsel in distress basically. Always worries and confused. Then there's Sado, silent but supposedly deadly. And lastly, Ishida... the powerful genius. They make an interesting combo, but it's all been visiting hundreds of times! When you watch a vast amount of Bleach, you start to not care about any of them. All in all, it is worth a watch, but you will certainly feel less likely to care about Bleach when you've caught up to the most recent episode. Sure some episodes seriously kick it outta the park... but the rest are just plain old blehhh. I give a 4 overall though, because I had some good times with Bleach, and it deserves that 4... What you guys who are reading this do after, is up to you! Don't let mu opinion sway your mind, it is merely my judgement of this show. 4/5
