| Summary: |
Riding the bus one day, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people being burned alive with a blue fire and a boy her age who's unharmed and standing over the people.
She comes back to the site the next day and there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find there's a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw before and wears a black glove only on his left hand.
Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who "does not exist". He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of "an eye for an eye", to "use evil against evil". Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart. |

I had high expectations for this anime as I love maga, but in the end it disappointed me. All Code:Breakers appear one after one, because of that they seem plain and uninteresting, have no background and deep.. They are supposed to be cold-blooded killing machines and yet in anime they are so emotional! wtf.
Generally speaking, only concept and characters were taken from original story, what caused this serie to be such a letdown.. Though animation is very good and at first it really seemed that anime will follow manga.
If not for the changes in story, they could have done a serie of at least 26 episodes or more.. What a pity :(
I may be subjecite because I've read manga for a long time now and after hope for great adaptation I see a mess, so trying to be objective: Animation and music are good; story is somehow interesting (as I tried to not remember manga at that time); characters and story have some contradictions in themselves, there are only 13eps so pace is very fast and not everything makes sense and is presented in the way it should..
Instead of anime I'd honestly recommend manga. It's great story, great idea, just awesome :D Well, even if you watch this anime and like it, I still suggest to read orginal story, it's just much much much MUCH better!!!

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
