One of the greats

This is one of the classic great anime. It came out around the same time as Pokemon, but never got as big of a following, which is really a shame, because it is just so awesome.

A group of kids get teleported to an alternate dimension known as the Digital World, where they find companions called Digital Monsters, or Digimon, and then adventure around and end up battling to determine the future of the Digital World.

It's a classic heroes story, but done in a new way thanks to the digimon. It's really well executed, and several of the fights leave you on the edge of your seat.

The animation isn't the best, but I think that is mostly due to the age of the anime, as the artists were probably much less experienced / trained than most anime artists today.

Overall this anime is easily one of the best to ever be released, and if you have kids and are looking for a good cartoon for them to watch, you definitely can't go wrong with Digimon.
