Ryuugamine Mikado is a boy who longs for the exciting life of the big city. At the invitation of his childhood friend Masaomi, he transfers to a school in Ikebukuro. Masaomi has warned him about people he doesn't want to cross in the city: a champion fighter, an informant, and a mysterious gang called "Darazu." Nervous from Masaomi's stories, Mikado witnesses an urban legend on his first day in the city, the Headless Rider astride a black motorcycle. From then on, the existence of supernatural cases and a gang called the Yellow Turbans will rise to the surface, and Ikebukuro will pushed to the breaking point.
The story of an awesome part of Tokyo called Ikebukuro! The gang war/action/supernatural/comedy that is Durarara is amazing in so many different ways, but let me start from the beginning. The story starts out with the main character (Mikado Ryugamine) arriving in Ikebukuro, he is greeted by his happy-go-lucky best friend Kida Masaomi who gives him a guided tour of the area and explains who and what to look out for, from a gang called the Dollars to an super strong/angry guy called Shizuo to a headless motorbike rider, Everything is Here! The animation is original and unique and the fight scenes are as epic as epic gets and the final fight gave me goosebumps. The story is second-to-nothing, top notch. Every episode leaves you wanting to know what happens next and the plot is brilliant. The show has amazing charaters who are all kick-ass in their own way, but the real awesome-factor is how everyone in the show is connected, I mean literally it adds so much to how epic the story IS! Without any real bad guys (Besides one particular little scumbag) the show revolves around how each character deals with the dangerous situation of living within proximity of each other and it ROCKS! The headless riders head and the colour gangs will keep you on the edge the whole time. So do you want to know the mystery of a Dulahan or are you just wanting to watch the best anime that will ever exist? Either way you MUST watch Durarara!! and enjoy or you will regret it!
