Kobayakawa Sena is a little guy who always get picked on by the bullies in school. Since elementary school, he always play the role of the 'errand boy' to the extent that he has become swift and fast in his movements. Coincidentally, Hiruma Youichi and Kurita Ryukan are looking for a fast running back for their American Football team (Amefuto) and want to put Sena in the team. To hide their new 'star' player from the eyes of other High Schools, Hiruma encases Sena in a Amefuto helmet with a dark visor and name him Eyeshield #21. |

At first, I was avoiding Eyesheild 21, to be honest. I'm not a fan of football, and seeing as it's an anime about football (or American Football), I didn't see any reason to watch it. But after one episode, I was hooked. The animation is lacking, I've seen much better, but I have to understand that this anime is over a hundred episodes long, and they don't have enough funding to keep good animation up for that long.
Also, the whole aspect of it being over a hundred episodes long is another thing to take into consideration. I've never been a fan of long animes, and the max I've made myself watch is forty-five, and so, I don't expect myself to finish this one.
The story line is repetitive. They find difficulties, but they overcome them eventually. It's the same storyline, but I can't look away and I'm downloading episode after episode.
The characters are very likable. They are also very unrealistic, but what else can you expect from an anime like this?
I love this anime, and although I probably will not finish it due to the fact of it's length, I've enjoyed to a point what I've seen so far, and it was definitely worth a watch.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
