For first impressions, probably my favourite this season.

It may be a bit early to be judging this one once and for all; however, I absolutely loved the first two episodes of Silver Spoon. The story is unique, funny, and, if a bit jumpy so far, has definite potential. There's already been some good development in the main character, and if the rest of the cast doesn't develop quite as obviously, they support the storyline well and it's nice to see them week after week. Character relations are rather funny than anything else so far, but they show some definite potential for development, drama, and in one case even romance. The comedy as well is one of a kind, quirky yet with less usual slapstick than actual brains. The art is a bit standard, yet good on the eyes, and at least the animals look freaking cute. The animation's fluid so far, and the music works well with all of it.
Of course there's still stuff not quite clear, like the back story between the protagonist and his family, but the general setup is easy to get and get into, and it's only two episodes so far after all. For first impressions, this is probably my favourite this season. Character development has been outstanding for merely two episodes; where the plot is a bit jumpy, it has a lot of potential; and the jokes, visually or verbally, never fail to make me laugh.
9.5/10 from me. One of a kind, and a very entertaining series.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
