| Summary: |
Based on the fantasy action light novel series, the story takes place on a continent ruled by chaos. The chaos breeds disaster, but the Lords of the continent have the power of "Crest" (Holy Seal) that can calm the chaos and protect the people. However, before anyone realizes it, the rulers cast aside their creed of purifying the chaos, and instead start to fight each other for each others' Crests and to gain dominion over one another. The novels center on Shirūka, an isolated mage who scorns the Lords for abandoning their creed, and a wandering knight named Theo, who is on a journey to train to one day liberate his hometown, which is under tyrannical rule. Shirūka and Theo make an everlasting oath to each other as master and servant, and work together to reform this continent dominated by wars and chaos. |

Grancrest is all about the warring states principles.
This however is kept up as a good story by pulling out all the stops, and slamming in with the whole spectrum of anime cliches; such as magic, sudo-demons (vampires, werewolves, and the like), over the top sword arts powered by their crests, as well as the infamous almost harem that you see forming but no... it falls short, however we do get the sugar-on-top romance, and shadow assassins, just as all the while we follow the do-good badass whos not a badass but is instead a humble sissy yet somehow a very likeable and awesome hero.
The Dialogue I feel falls short in most everything outside of a book, and even then its not always that great, however it was definitely in TI's good rating and i would give it a great, but alas no great option to bubble pick.
The Animation I felt was pretty great as I personally liked the style it was done in.
Entertainment? Well hell I was entertained, so thumbs up.
Worth checking out.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
