Onizuka is an ex-biker and gang leader who has one goal, to become the greatest teacher. He learns of the power and respect possible as an intern teacher, using his strength and connections to get his students to respect him. Now, graduated, he gets a job at a prestigious private school to handle their 'problem class' that made the past few teachers quit. He must handle a different sort of trouble when the trouble makers include some of the smartest kids in Japan who prefer a more cerebral approach to torturing their teacher. Onizuka must slowly win his students over and deal with their mistrust of teachers while handling the distrust of his fellow teachers. |

GTO? Great Teacher Onizuka. Teacher... Nope, I'm not watching that.
^That was my initial reaction and I'm sure there will be others who feel the same way. But what can I say, GTO could very possibly be the funniest anime I have ever watched. I'm completely sure that had I not watched GTO, I would've come to regret it. This anime is just pure genius. Being able to discuss serious, real life issues, make us laugh and still get the message across, is by no means an easy feat. I have to applaude everything about this anime. The main protaganist may just be my favourite anime protaganist. His character is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. The storyline is great, the characters are great, what more to say? Watch it.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
