Summary:
A mysterious, lethal disease is on the loose worldwide, resulting in a catastrophic death rate of humanity, and the increasing rise of attacks, caused by the living dead.
In Japan, several high school students and a school nurse have banded together to escape Fujimi High School shortly after it was attacked by zombies. The group now attempts to figure who or what was responsible for this plague, and in the meantime, attempt to survive the present apocalypse.
The story is initially narrated through the eyes of Takashi Komuro, one of the students who had survived in the initial outbreak.
You may have heard about this anime at some point in your life. You may also have heard that it sucked. Well, that is not the case. Highschool of the Dead is a great-not legendary, but still great-anime that has all the zombie head smashing you could ever want-and there's a lot in every action packed episode, too. There's also a fair bit of suspense, and it's a rather fast paced anime with smooth animation-both for the fanservice and the fighting.
And now that I've brought it up, I'll talk about it. There IS fanservice in this anime, and that's what a lot of people complain about. Well, the fanservice adds a lighter, less serious side to the anime, and that helps balance all the action out. You might even chuckle once in a while at the fanservic, and I think it adds to the charm and sets this anime apart from others.
Also, the cast of characters is really nice. This anime also shows that, just because you're not the skinniest, hottest anime dude, doesn't mean you can't seriously kick butt. There are lots of females, but there are a few males, too. You might find yourself relating to certain aspects of certain characters.
To conclude, this anime is not half as bad as everyone says. Sure, it's got fanservice, and a fair amount of it, but that makes it better in ways. Overall, a great anime that's worth your time. You'll find something to love about it in the end.
