Hyouka has so far only released one episode of the series. But this debut episode was a definite masterpiece. The animation was perfect and pleasing to the eyes but the style and detail was even more impressive. Resembling the thoughtfulness of Studio Ghibli's artwork with a sense of reality not usually found in other animes, Hyouka's first episode was perhaps the best out of all the new animes coming out.

The music and sound effects were perfect and went well with both the dialogue, story and had precise timing. The opening soundtrack and ending were all worthy enough for me to sit through, and even enjoy.

The story is about a boy who likes to live a "gray" life joining the Classics school club which is about to be shut down to fulfil his sister's request. He finds an girl there who is delighted to see him join. His friend then comes along and the three of them make up the Classics club. They then solve small mysteries with the girl, Chitanda Eru, having an excellent memory, from what we've seen, the main character Hotaro who as excellent deduction skills and his good friend Satoshi who is the equivalent of a joking, fun, walking database. The characters' depth of character is also appealing and one of the biggest factors that make this anime series so delightful.

If you are looking for a new great anime to watch this season, look no further! Watch even just the first episode of Hyouka and be totally hooked!
