The story of "love, magic, and battles" revolves around Akuto Sai, a boy who aims to become part of his country's highest order of magicians and contribute to society. Anime adaptations of novel series are rare but most of them are worth watching. (Familiar of Zero, Slayers and Full Metal Panic are three that come to mind, I put them in order of genre) This series has nice pacing, after all they had to cover the entire first novel in one season. I'm hoping the studio that did this will do the rest.

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
