Duelist Kingdom is the first arc in the Duel Monsters anime. Maximillion Pegasus (Pegasus J. Crawford in the Japanese version), using the power of the Millennium Eye, manages to seal away the soul of Yugi's grandfather Solomon Muto (Sugoroku Mutou in the Japanese version), and Yugi must save him by entering a children's card game tournament on Pegasus' private island. Meanwhile, Joey Wheeler (Katsuya Jonouchi) enters the tournament in order to pay for his sister's eye surgery, and Pegasus and several top executives at KaibaCorp plot to remove Seto Kaiba from the head of his company.

the anime is good and was way better than its manga as many of the changes in the anime made the story better.The problem is the filler episodes especially the ones involving the big 5.The storry was so crappy and illogical.They even inserted the episodes in between major fights between kaiba and yugi and also the final battle with marik.That totally ruined the pace of the story.The filler episodes after the battle with marik is also a bunch of crap and lengthy for no reason.
