Fate/Prototype is a digest version of Kinoko Nasu's original version of Fate/stay night that he developed as a novel in high school before completely redesigning it as a visual novel. It is a twelve minute anime segment released with Carnival Phantasm Season 3, and included the Prototype Material databook. There are no current plans to develop any more pieces of media based on the concept.
It will follow the original main characters, Sajyou Ayaka and Saber, before they were changed to Emiya Shirou and Saber.

There I was expecting an OVA to the Fate series that would answer another question… and what do I get? A preview that only makes me more excited. -_-
Nah, kidding. According to Wikipedia, this'll be standing alone for a while, but seriously, it looks like a trailer! (If it is) it sure promises a good story with intriguing characters, good music and topnotch animation, but this thing is ten minutes only and will leave Fate fans high and dry. >_< Hoping for a full-out TV series sometime in the near future!

Pretty awesome and neat piece of work here; as a 'prototype' to what would eventually become the best-selling Fate/stay Night VN this is a very different story, and although this is more like a trailers, it packs its short run with awesome action, intriguing characters and a delicious bishie male Saber. Let's hope for a full TV series!

If you can imagine Yuri on Ice! meets Holmes of Kyoto, then this is it. Slow paced but gripping. Boy-Love but not distasteful...
