I loved this show for 12 weeks, I really anticipated every episode, I have also read the manga, but the way they wrapped it up in the anime reaaally pissed me off! The manga gives you time to absorb the story and lays out everything nicely. The anime started out really nice and slow, but the 2 last episodes were not so good! it was really hurried like the director wanted to finish everything by the 12th episode, it would have been nice if they had added at least one more... anyway really nice, definitely read the manga... AWESOME! I highly recommend (read more)

At first I thought this show was about sailors and boats or something, just by judging by the picture. After watching a first impression video on youtube and seeing that the main focus was jazz music in the 60s I became intrigued.
There really isn't a main story here. It started out as a love triangle between the main group of friends but then just moved on to developing the friendships between the 3 main characters. The way they executed what story they had, was pretty impressive. It served for some real emotional scenes, that weren't all over-dramatic, (read more)

The animation is completely outstanding! The attention to detail they give for when everybody is playing their instruments is really impression. All in all Sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the Slope) is a great emotional slice of life anime, with an amazing soundtrack as well! (show less)
This is an anime series revolving around love and mainly friendship. The drama and emotional twist in the plots keeps you addicted to the anime and wanting more.
This one better than any romance, and drama genre animes out there! (at least recently)
loving it :) very well plotted plots and music. Plus wonderful characters development

Sakamichi no Apollon is a really good anime to watch. It's the type that you'd want to marathon the entire thing in one go with an ice cream in hand. I found myself laughing, crying and worrying with the characters. It's not too fancy, just the basics. The simplicity of this anime is what makes it good.
