Even though Gennosuke and Oboro are from rival ninja villages, they are secretly in love. As if it was not bad enough to break down into tears while watching the anime, the live-action adaptation makes the tragedy more real and surreal at the same time. It is a heartbreakingly beautiful film and one of the best live-action films I have seen in a while.
